Africans first touched what we now call American soil in the 1500s. Freedom from slavery came in the 1800s. In 1869, Black men got the right to vote. In 2008, the USA saw its first Black President.

And still, Black people haven’t been fully Liberated.

In The Hood Needs Love, Too, author Byron D. Brooks walks us through a journey of the realities of Black American communities both in the past and the present. This book serves as a planning guide for the future as we work smarter and harder to utilize our skills and energy to elevate our community to what we could and need to be.

Addressing topics like family, unity, economics, accountability, anti-racism, politics, and more, Brooks hands us the keys to Liberation so any community leader with the heart for pure change can finally unlock the door to our growth and success.
